Summary of Initiative

The six principles of the Sustainable Web Manifesto include:

  • Clean - The services we provide and services we use will be powered by renewable energy
  • Efficient - The products and services we provide will use the least amount of energy and material resources possible
  • Efficient - The products and services we provide will be accessible, allow for the open exchange of information, and allow users to control their data
  • Honest - The products and services we provide will not mislead or exploit users in their design or content
  • Regenerative - The products and services we provide will support an economy that nourishes people and planet
  • Resilient - The products and services we provide will function in the times and places where people need them most.

Relationship to CDR

The Sustainable Web Manifesto relates to Principle 7 of the International CDR Manifesto. Specifically, it should be considered in the wider context of a proactive sustainable IT strategy that gives consideration to the impact of technology used by an organisation to deliver its business. There is also a clear link to Principles 2 and 3 in the content of fair accessible content & appropriate use of data and Privacy
